What does it look like in schools and colleges?
Implementing a learning platform effectively requires it to be flexible, versatile and to evolve to suit your needs, and we have designed TUTOR to be all of these things!
Hundreds of educational establishments are currently using TUTOR to help meet a combination of intervention, homework and in-class learning needs. With a comprehensive, in-built awards system, schools and colleges are also designing motivating rewards frameworks to keep engagement high and promote proactivity — 'Maths Universe of the Week’ is a current favourite!

Intervention
Whether you have specific, targeted groups in mind, or want to offer morning, lunchtime or after school drop-in sessions, educational establishments are using the complementary assessment and delivery provided by TUTOR to support ‘catch-up’.
Homework
The introduction of a straightforward policy such as “5 goals a week” is as much as you’d need in order to provide individuals with a roadmap for their own extraordinary progress. To support in the development of personalised maths universes, simply use existing homework monitoring practice within your institution.
In Class
Use the ‘Learn’ and ‘Do’ steps actively in your lessons to support your teaching, and reinforce or revise maths learning. Schools and colleges are also using TUTOR as part of a blended learning approach in the class, where the ability range is wide or certain groups need a little extra time or support on a particular area of maths.

Sir James Smith's Community School
Sir James Smith’s have been using TUTOR as an intervention tool for specific groups of pupils, as well as a compulsory homework tool across the whole school. Head of Maths Jon O’Neil says “TUTOR is just like having a personalised tutor” — he particularly enjoys using the Diagnostic quiz with pupils, who can “identify and recognise where the weaknesses are.” With 600 on roll, and 3,100 Goals already completed, we are very excited to see the grand total by July 2022!
Bewdley School
At The Bewdley School, Fiona Wilmott, Head of Department, is an avid proponent of the benefits of CLASSROOM and CPD; this academic year, she decided to integrate TUTOR into the school too, using it across KS3 to KS5 to help pupils catch up and fill in any gaps in prior learning.
With 990 on roll, in one half term they have managed to stack up some impressive stats: over 44,000 minutes of videos have been watched on the platform, and over 143,000 questions have been answered.
Canons High School
With just over 1000 on roll, and 189,000 questions answered correctly to date on the platform, the maths department have had pupils using TUTOR both for homework and in-class learning.
In class, they are using TUTOR to help differentiate for their lower ability sets in Year 8, where the range of ability is so broad that teaching at once is challenging.
Trust in Learning Academies (TiLA)
This highly collaborative trust in Bristol has purchased TUTOR seats for all of their pupils across four schools, spanning KS1 to KS5. All four school TUTOR subscriptions are connected and organised within one main TUTOR account. This allows for a comprehensive analysis of data across key stage 2, which can be used to assist with the transition into secondary school.
